I am not sure why this restaurant is not higher up in the ratings; it may have something to do with it being listed under St.Kilda when its actually in Balaclava. Even so it should be much higher up the list given the quality and consistency of the food and service. The dishes are small but they are not overpriced, and the delicate flavours in many of them make them worth savouring. We have had many shared dishes here (the best way to order) and all are consistently good, the seafood dishes being the favourites. The chef here takes care in presentation and consistency of quality. And the staff are always friendly and courteous. The interior is comfortable, though the tables are a little close to each other. There are very few good places to eat in Balaclava, but I highly recommend En Izakaya for its relaxed understated atmosphere, excellent service and fine Japanese fusion food. A wonderful asset for Balaclava.
